The Free Man

Freedom is a fundamental right
So says the constitution
But is a man really free
Tis the million dollar question

He is not enslaved by a feud
Nor are his hands bound by a chain
He has everything he needs
But still his heart is filled with pain

What is this misery?
That cannot be seen
That cannot be heard
Only felt deep down within
Wailing like a caged bird

This is the cry of slavery
Slavery of the mind
The feeling is so wretched
It surpasses miseries of every other kind

And he questions
'Where from, did this misery come?'
That which wasn't there in the past
How has it now made my clear skies overcast

But truth be told
It has been there all the while
Right from the days
When he was a child

His parents freed him off his choices
And made his decisions for him
His teachers freed him off his questions
And made his mind glow dim
His manager freed him off his decisions
And decided how his future would be
His girlfriend freed him off his duties
And made him live just for she.

'What is the solution?'
He now asks
'How do I break free?'
'From the prison these mundane tasks.'

Replying to which the yogi says
'The chains of slavery have to fall.'
'Nobody can free a man.'
'He himself has to make the call.'

'Wake up from the state of being brain dead.'
'If you truely want to be free.'
'Follow these words which a great man once said.'
'A man is free the moment he wants to be.'

The Regret

It was a lazy night, and I was stressed out
Listening to the radio play 'love is a game pong'
I had definitely made the wrong choice, no doubt
When a long time back, long ago in the past
For someone, I didn't sing the very same song
How true, I thought
I didn't ping
She didn't pong

Long back I did love that one divine soul
To tell her how I felt was my only goal
Staring at the moon till the night's very end
How many sleepless nights did I spend?

Dreaming about her all day and night
Never could I get her out of my sight
How could any man who saw her forget her?
The twinkle in her eyes filled with hope
Her jet black hair which flowed
Like a cascade of water down the mountain top
The way she nibbled at her food
Everything she did felt so very good.

Those were the days when I loved the rain
I loved to do things from which I had nothing to gain
I enjoyed living each and every second of the day
Without a care in the world, neither the deadlines nor the pay
That's when I realized why everyone craves for love

Love makes you feel complete
Love makes you feel wanted
But I was a fool, not a single move did I make
Only much later did I realize my foolishness
When my heart began to ache

The pain is terrible and I can't sleep at night
This is not similar to the insomnia mentioned before
This one makes your heart go tight
But this is not the kind of pain caused by love
Like most people who have lost love, claim
But this is indeed the pain caused by the lack of love. isn't it.

Therefore I beg of you,
Learn from my mistakes
Coz life often doesn't give you second takes
Away from love, don't shy
Make a move, atleast give it a try
Though all your efforts may go in vain
Realization will dawn upon you that
Love is everything else, but pain

The Greatest Gift of God

It's something that can cheer up an angry child
Something that can make people in depression go wild
That which has the power to heal a troubled mind
Where on earth such a thing will you find?

They say its present everywhere for a man with a sound ear
Right from the growling of the bear to the hopping of the deer
The chirping of the birds to an orchestra full of violins
Even in the deepest, darkest, eerie sound of silence

For that which has no reason, all you can do is but wonder
However ever hard you try, just can't help but surrender
Can't thank God enough, as he has left for it no dearth
Rightly do they say, music is the link between heaven and earth.
